Baby Hat Knit-In

The folks at City Quilter were kind enough to invite me to join them for a Knit – in on Monday. As they are closed on Mondays, they provided the venue and allowed knitters and crocheters to come together and use the space to make hats for premature babies.Ā  Judy organized the event and regularly donates tiny hats to the local hospitals including Bellevue.

BabyYarn

This was the pile of easy wash yarn that had been donated in case we needed any!

There were plenty of crazy samples and patterns to keep us interested while we chatted and knitted.

BabyHats

The basic cap pattern I tried was from the Save the Children website that Judy had already printed for us, some were free from Ravelry

TwoBabyHats

and I really enjoyed using the softest acrylic I had picked up at Michaels called Elegance by Loops and Threads. All in all a good cause.

It’s nice to do a little something to help and it was fun to have a bit of community spirit too šŸ™‚

This sounds like a lovely way to spend a day knitting with others, I could do with something like this where I live.

Do you have a local knitting shop who would help organize something? You only need a few of you šŸ™‚

Hi, Mandy, Well we have a small market stall owned by a lovely lady but she dose not have the room.
I am going to check with our Hobby craft store as I have heard that if they have enough people interested in a knitting group, they will set one up for you.
        That would be fun.

Brings back memories of our knitting for the William Harvey… I think my versions were in more squeaky yarn and less funky!
