Junk and Loot

Recent treasure hunts resulted in a few interesting discoveries and some small acquisitions.

Junk has two locations very close to each other in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Very handy if you’re making an afternoon of it – I found my wooden spools here before but hadn’t realised it was called Junk. Unfortunately it’s a little on the pricey side and luckily it’s a few blocks from the subway so I couldn’t carry anything large or expensive away with me. It was great for a mooch and some inspiration though.

These items had been not really been selected, more gathered but that might explain why the prices are high, time has been invested. There is lots of stuff in one place, this is good 🙂 There’s a few vintage buttons here!

Loot is much smaller but greater care has been taken over selecting, sorting and displaying the items and the prices are great too. My lovely friend Jemma discovered this place and drove me all the way into Massachusetts to visit – road trip and treasure hunt 🙂

Their tag line says “found and made” and there are some great items repurposed into furniture (of course, I forgot to take photos).

I couldn’t resist this jigsaw template, I’m sure it will be very useful, just not sure what for yet (I love the scorch marks).

My Loot

And this is what else I gleaned from their beautifully arranged shelves, all for under $20. The wooden item on the left is a cane top, they must have had at least 100 of them – wasn’t I good just buying one! A few cotton perle threads, some blue bias binding and some wooden buttons. The sprinkler valve is destined to be a necklace, the blue button fits inside perfectly 🙂

Thanks Jemma for a lovely day out. You’ll be pleased to hear that she picked up a few things too!

If you can’t get there, you can see what beauties they have in stock by visiting their website.

Quite restrained I thought, but carefully chosen 🙂
