stitching, quilting, fabric, projects
The Quilt Alliance organized a fantastic event in NYC this weekend. Quilters flew, trained and bused into the city for garment district tours, classes and cocktails. I booked onto a great class with Leslie Tucker Jenison which was only 3 hours but I nearly have a quilt top!
Saturday’s gathering at The Fashion Institute of Technology started with goody bags! (shown here by request)
…….with fabric from Timeless Treasures and Cherrywood, Mistyfuse samples, Aurafil thread, discounts and tickets for door prizes. It was a fundraising event so there were also raffle prizes and silent auctions from their many sponsors. Gorgeous quilts were on display from the TWENTY competition and the celebrity speakers, Hollis Chatelain – amazing quilts new to me, Paula Nadelstern and Semper Tedium.
Hosts Meg Cox, president, Jodie Davis and Mark Lipinski kept us entertained and interviews were recorded for Go Tell It – as this is what the Quilt Alliance are really about, capturing the stories of quilts and quilters. www.quiltalliance.org
Coffee and cake were also provided 🙂
Then we continued onto The After Dark Party at the home of Victoria Findley-Wolfe with MATCH – a fun design competition. Heather Jones, Luke Haynes and Mark in pink Lycra and a wig.
(Yes that’s Yvonne Porcella)! Denise Schmidt helped out too.
Luke got my vote, Mark won but that was probably to do with the candy bribes 🙂
Lots of lovely quilters, a fun weekend and nearly a quilt top, oh yes, I’d better get on!
