Winter Olympic Quilts

Symbolizing the patchwork of Russias heritage “The Olympic patchwork quilt, developed by Bosco’s creative department and given to the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee, is the official Look of Russia’s first Winter Games.”

Amazing, so much colour!

And the knitting?

This is the Finnish snowboarding coach Antti Koskinen at the top of the slope (from the BBC coverage of the Finnish team via facebook.com/vogueknittingmag)  – knitting a snow coloured scarf.

Where are the gloves?!

So glad to see these–they translate so beautifully to the flags!

I agree, lovely to see quilts going “mainstream”. The design elements have been so well researched, I wonder if they will bring fabrics out by the bolt!

I’ve really been enjoying the quilt designs. Doesn’t it make you proud to be a quilter? I was trying to figure out what I was going to Google to figure out who the knitting lady was so thank you for the info!

Celebrating Russian folk art is an interesting nod to (mostly) women? I wonder if Putin is trying to smooth over the Pussy Riots!

Love he Russian design work at Sochi, so contemorary, and referensing their folk art. Love the orange for the down hills, more than the purple for the luge!

They don’t need gloves in Sochi – we should all be there – it’s 60!!! Love the fabrics.
