Crafty Friends

Last night we had another lovely gathering of our “quilt” group Jo Blox. We’ve been meeting up for years, sharing projects and asking for each others opinions, I miss them terribly when I’m away.

Steph had brought her memory quilt top to show us now it’s together and was deciding on how to quilt it.

Belinda was steaming through the hand quilting on her spools quilt.

Elaine only has 4 more apple cores to go.

Teresa had her Autumn quilt top together including appliqued centre.

And these were Nickys fabric selections for her workshop with Maggie Kingston.

As usual we had other projects on the go as well. There is always a few of us knitting socks and Becky had this crochet blanket to show me, adapted from a pattern by littlewoolie.

Along with the odd glass of wine and lively banter, it was business as usual. I love these nights in with my besties x

It’s always better with friends isn’t it? – and a glass of wine doesn’t hurt either! All beautiful work but I am particularly impressed by the Memory Quilt. Those fabric choices work so well with the photographs – the design and colours accentuate the images rather than overpower them – I wonder how she will quilt it in the end.

Just to give an update on the memory quilt. I decided to keep it simple. I quilted in the ditch and then quilted on the cream, around the coloured rectangles, about 1/2″ away. It just gave the blocks a frame and broke up the cream a bit. I’m giving it to my niece this weekend. I hope she likes it.
