Garden Quilt

I designed this Garden Quilt inspired by the striking Topiary prints from Amanda Murphy for Blend Fabrics.

The bold prints got me thinking about Victorian garden rooms and rows of espaliered fruit trees. The Meander prints, knot gardens, all good elements to combine in one quilt. With Tiny Seeds as background fabric it became The Garden Quilt, quite simple and also modern 🙂

The quilt is one of many included in the August issue of Popular Patchwork magazine out in the UK now (and the US in a few weeks time).

It looks great–how nice to see it featured so!

Thanks Kerry, I love your neatly pressed linens. Are they collected or passed down?

Thanks, Mandy. I have ones that are passed own, which I’m keeping. I also have collected over the years and now am selling a lot of those on Etsy. Let’s just say the collection got a little out of hand . . .

Congratulations! I would never have thought to use two different backgrounds, split right down the middle of the quilt like that, but it is such a great idea! Using the same fabric in different colorways gives it the perfect balance of unity and variety.

Thanks, they were both such lovely fabrics and if you only have half a yard of each you can make do!

Congratulations – I really like that – very fresh look with the mixed backgrounds and some boxes being “outlined” and others not.
