@Festival of Quilts!

The biggest quilting event of the year in the UK is happening right now. Apparently 8000 visitors came through the doors on the opening day! Here’s a few images of some of the winning quilts.

Having browsed some of the many wonderful quilts and special exhibitions, I popped over to the Popular Patchwork stand to pick up my copy of the September issue which had been produced two weeks early specially for Festival (my Fence Quilt and the instructions are included). I made sure I went and said hi to fellow contributor Stuart Hillard who was chatting and signing books on The Cotton Patch stand along with Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett. It would have been a crime not to stock up on supplies and catch a few bargains from the many traders, just a little fabric and a large cutting mat – that was interesting getting that through the crowds in one piece!
I bumped into many friends including Angie from The Sewing Space and chatted with fellow quilters over cream teas. There is so much more to tell you – another post to follow soon 🙂

    I like the tradirional quilt very much, although is it traditional?

    Interesting question Vikky, it’s got a Folk Art feel but the precision Philippa achieves with the applique is amazing.
