stitching, quilting, fabric, projects
I was lucky enough to be invited to teach at Festival this year. A few Quick and Easy workshops, trying to provide a little bit of calm in the teaching oasis for weary shoppers. These Cathedral Windows coasters were made in an hour!
Everyone in the lunchtime Mug Hug class was very lovely sharing materials and having a good chat whilst appliqueing little birds – I’m sorry I forgot to take photos 😦
The half day Academy Class “Row of Cottages” was a snippet from my Townscapes quilt. We worked from scraps and liberal use of colour was encouraged. Everyone improvised as the scraps got smaller, working outside of their usual colour schemes and these jolly residences were the result 🙂
At the Fashion Show in the evening we got to see some of the Wearable Art, here are just a few snapshots.
This is the lovely Vicky showing her wedding dress made jointly with her mum Rosemary Hillman.
My Slouchy Bag (made with fabrics designed by Melanie Testa for Windham) was shown with felted wrist warmers by Jo Leatherland.
This fun monster outfit is by Daisy Collingridge in stretch nylon, no mean feat!
I entered this quilt “Stack” – amazingly longarm quilted by Rachael Dorr, into the two person quilt category. The fabrics are basics Sketch and Dream by Timeless Treasures plus Soho Solids. I really enjoyed playing with the colours when designing this simple modern quilt but the quilting takes it to another level, thanks Rachael 🙂
See my previous post for some of the winning quilts 🙂
