A Very Merry Unbirthday

Jo Blox on their best behavior.

Our quilting group Jo Blox like an excuse to get together for a meal and a drink or two. We have a gap in the calendar at this time of year with no birthdays to celebrate, so we have, over the past few years come up with a solution. With thanks to Lewis Carroll for the idea, we now book in an Unbirthday. We each buy a gift worth up to Β£5, a knitty stitchy gift of course and wrap it up. Last night they were passed around the table, we each selected one and unwrapped it in turn, to much shrieking of delight – we know how to have fun!
This is what I was gifted, a beautifully presented selection of fat eighths from Nicky.
Elaine was back from her hols with gifts for us all *(another Jo Blox tradition). She’d selected some yummy threads from a quilt shop discovered on her travels. We each got to choose one – haha, that took a while!
The poor pub that had to endure us last night was the Flying Horse at Boughton Alph. They do a fantastic deal on Tuesday nights and the food was fabulous! They said they’d never had an Unbirthday celebration there before.

Earlier in the evening I’d had an out of hours Quilting emergency. I was merrily stitching along and the thread ran out with 6 lines to go, don’t you just hate that? I looked at my watch, the shops had closed. Que group email – “does anyone have a light grey Gutermann 6206”. Oh yes! And said thread appeared from Belinda the Wonderful at the table. Quilting is now completed, thank you so much, thread will be replaced soon.
Thanks for a lovely evening girlies, can’t wait till the next one πŸ™‚

Such a brilliant idea – better than a book club I think although I do like to read too! So upset at missing the free form cutting class – hope it went well.
I’ve managed 3 hours at work today – need to make a full recovery to be able to sew once more!
    Best wishes
