It’s started – Quilters are Taking Manhattan!

Yes, there is a gathering of the clans! – (a little Scottish reference there as I’m celebrating Britain still being Great) ๐Ÿ™‚
But here in NYC, quilters, quilt guilds, designers and teachers are descending for the Quilt Alliance event “Quilters Take Manhattan”.

Yesterday I visited The City Quilter Art Gallery to see the exhibition of quilts by Velda Newman. AMAZING!!! HUGE!!!

The works are all dyed, painted and hand quilted to great effect.

John Kubiniec and Heather Kojan provided us with a trunk show and were signing copies of their book, Classic Modern Quilts. It was lovely to hear some of the stories and design decisions behind their quilts.

The BIG event is tomorrow at FIT and has been sold out for months. There are also classes, tours and after dark events, even a walk along the High Line. It promises to be another great, exciting weekend!

Really jealous – hope you have a great weekend. Trust me you didn’t want to be in UK for past few weeks – the Scottish subject has been discussed to death. Glad we are still United though.

Thanks Tansy, glad it was all a storm in a teacup. John had a quilt made with Kaffe’s and I thought of you ๐Ÿ™‚
