Quilting Along

Quilting along with my own QuiltALong!

Quilt group Jo Blox decided to join in the fun and exchange fabric ready for the group QAL coming out in Popular Patchwork magazine, January issue on December 12th.

Each of our fabric choices were unveiled one by one at the table in the local pub –  (what else do you do whilst waiting for the starters to arrive?)

There are seven of us and these are the mid tone fabrics that will influence our choice of lights and darks – I love them! – but they’re so similar – is this going to be a problem? – very matchy, too matchy? Exciting!!!!!

Since then I’ve added a friendly navy Polka Dot from Timeless Treasures as my dark and thought I’d use a few different lights along the way, we’ll see how that goes! Some of our exchanged mid tones have white backgrounds and some have cream. I don’t want the creams to look dirty so I’m keeping my options open 🙂

I love the soft green fabric kindly provided by Teresa. It’s going to feature across the centre with the navy, I’m already bending the rules, hehe!

Here’s my choice of light, white on cream, paired with the calm blue provided by Elaine.

And here’s some warmth from Belinda and Becky.

I’ve written an individual and group version (for groups of four to seven people).

If you’d like to join in, see Popular Patchwork Magazine January 2015 for first installment – out this Friday in the UK.

Tomorrow I’ll be down at the The Sewing Space in Hythe with Stuart Hillard from The Great British Sewing Bee!

🙂 – I like a challenge! Actually a good mix of small and large prints, some blend, some contrast, a fun mix!

I’ll make sure I post regular updates Doreen. There will be our seven WIP’s on the go with different fabrics being added and I’m hoping the magazine will print some of the readers versions too 🙂

Oh yes….that would be awesome!!! There are so many beautiful fabrics ‘out there’ now and putting them together in unique combos is a real help. Thanks!!!

You’re a quilter AND you can use the word “whilst” in a sentence – multi-talented!! Have fun!
