Struggle with Stripes?

Many of my students tell me they shy away from using stripes in their patchwork, so I came up with these small “try them” projects for Popular Patchwork Magazine. They are quick and easy and there is no huge outlay in fabric but they are WOW on impact.

Finishing up the samples into usable mats makes them fun, no stress gifts too! I find them a good size to get from the microwave (“Micromats”) to the TV. As long as you’ve got cotton or wool wadding inside they will insulate and can sit on your lap.

This gorgeous fabric is from the “Carly” collection by Tribeca and it has coordinating stripes.

If you were at Festival UK you may have already spotted the cover of the September issue (it wasn’t small). The editor was watching when I spotted it and thought it was hilarious – that’s me!  🙂

She’s printed a little interview inside too.

If you are nervous about stripes, I hope you’ll  give them a go. They are too much fun to leave out!

They come together in no time. Have a lovely trip Ilse, I’m sure you’ll track some fabric shops down!
