Fairtrade Fabric

Did you know you can buy Fairtrade cotton fabric for patchwork? Obviously you can also use it for other things including garments 🙂 The cotton is grown organically as well as fairly traded, take a look at their website:

Susie Huson has been designing some fab prints exclusively for them to use alongside their solid colours. You’ll find woodpeckers and forest scenes as well as these fun birdhouses and circles.

I have made a variation on a log cabin quilt using some of these fabrics which will be featured in the *new look* Popular Patchwork magazine April issue, coming out in the UK this weekend.

(shown here with quilting in progress!)

Fairtrade are selling a limited number of kits for this quilt, so contact them directly if you are interested in getting your hands on one!

Looks good and not too expensive either. Hopefully, they’ll be able to extend their range of designs eventually.

I do hope so. Did you see they have fat quarter packs too 🙂
