Holiday Hexie Quilt

Well it’s been a crazy weekend.

I got to visit Oast Quilters showcase in Canterbury on Friday, well worth a visit. Lots of lovely quilts, traders and cake! Then South East Open Studios kicked off. My house has been turned into an exhibition and everything that was cluttering up the place is now crammed into cupboards out of sight. I’m really pleased with the artwork but it’s interesting trying to find anything else right now.

June issue of Popular Patchwork magazine hit the stores in the UK, it’s all about planning projects for your holiday this month. I’ve designed a hexie quilt with fabric from my stash. It starts as small hand sewn, travel size blocks that can be joined by machine later.

This looks like a fun issue!

That looks like a brilliant project for me. I’ve started making hexies with some vintage look fabrics but it’s slow going and I can’t imagine ever having enough to make a quilt of any size. However, the way you have spaced them means I won’t have to make millions plus it’s always good to have a portable project. I’m going over to the U.K. this Friday so I’ll have to remember to pick up a copy.

Hope you had a good trip and you managed to pick up a copy. The elephant quilt looks like a fun project too!
