Cornwall in a Camper

We’re just back from a jolly jaunt in Cornwall. Hubby rented a camper van as a birthday pressie, something I’ve wanted to do for ages.

It’s the only PURPLE one I’ve ever seen – crazy!

Driving it was a challenge, I now have great respect for anyone driving one and will give them more space on the road in future. Finding reverse gear only happened about 50% of the times we needed it and we learned to apply the brakes at the top of every hill, in the hopes we would stop by the bottom.

Anyone who has been to Cornwall will know how beautiful it is. Rugged coastlines, narrow lanes, steep hills …………………… possibly, in hindsight, not the best place to learn to drive a Combi!

It was an adventure  🙂

We visited the Minack Theatre which was amazing.

Built with sand brought up from the beach and carved into by Rowena Cade, on the side of a cliff.

Unfortunately they were in between shows but we got to explore the stage and seating areas and spent some time in the gardens.

And we did spend a night in the camper, on the flattest hill we could find, with bricks under the wheels 🙂

Edit: – a few more images!

I know a classic VW van is cool, but please try a modern one next time! It is so much fun! Sold mine a year ago and still miss it! X
