Book Club Quilt

The design inspiration for this quilt is going to sound a little crazy ( “bonkers” according to the technical editor).
I based the block on the floor plan of an entrance hall of a house with the stairs going up the side, but it needed more detail. So the stairs became a bookcase with a few books in.

I used beautiful Cirrus Solids from Cloud9 in soft colours and repeated the block. The same three books appeared in twelve different houses so they were obviously waiting to be read by…….. The Book Club 🙂

Isn’t everyone’s home painted in these soft colours ? ! I’m sure in reality the bookcases would be crammed full of books, but these are the important ones 🙂

I loved playing with the colours and contrasts in this quilt and it’s so soft, the fabrics drape beautifully. Finished with simple straight line quilting it didn’t take long to come together.

The pattern is in May issue of Popular Patchwork magazine already with subscribers this week and in the shops in the UK this weekend.

Happy Friday!

Absolutely beautiful, as usual, Mandy. I love the colours too. Always interesting to hear the story behind your work. Xx
